Last year, I turned forty and realized that I'd spent the last twenty years of my life worrying about things that no one else cared about and things I had little control over. After years of beating myself up, I realized how much precious time I've wasted! In my conversations with women over the years, it's evident that we share in common the overwhelming habit to engage in this type of quiet self-abuse.

This website is for every woman who tells herself - or worse - allows someone else to tell her that she's not good enough, pretty enough, thin enough or that she just isn't measuring up somehow. It's also for strong minded, opinionated, feisty, passionate women who need an outlet and want to be heard. We are ALL amazing, beautiful, talented, gifted, able-spirited women!

If you are reading this, thank you for taking the time out of your hectic life to spend a few minutes with me. If you read anything here that resonates within you - please take a moment to share your thoughts; your insight may be incredibly helpful to others.

Why "Venus in Combat Boots"?

In 2004, I began to write my memoir titled, Venus in Combat Boots. I chose that title because, at the time, my life was fraught with conflict. There were mornings I would wake up and feel like I'd need to don full combat gear just to get through the day.

I'm happy to say that I'm in a much better place than I was back then and, as my life continues to unfold in the most surprising ways, I've decided to shelve the memoir for the time being.

In keeping with the spirit and intent of this website (formerly "There's No Cure for Cel*ulite"), I will continue to write about things that are important or of interest to me because, quite frankly, it feels good to put some positive energy out to the universe - or Internet, as it were.

So why does the website banner show a fabulous pair of heels and not combat boots? Because, my darlings, combat boots are *so* 1997!
