Book Eve

The books are coming tomorrow - isn't that crazy? Well, maybe not crazy to you - but it feels pretty darn crazy to us. We've spent the past two days working feverishly to get all of our non-book inventory into the computer so that we have a week to get the books inventoried and shelved in time to open on the first. I'd like to say that getting the books in their rightful places was the only thing we need to get done between now and then, but a million other things keep cropping up.

I had an overwhelming sense of melancholy as we were getting ready to leave the shop and come home tonight. I can't explain it but Gary said he felt it a little bit, too. We're both super excited to get all those books and fill up the shelves, but it feels like the end of something almost more than the beginning. Gary thinks it's because we've been working so hard to get to this point and it's almost here. He's probably right; this journey has been amazing!

That being said, the journey is far from over and we know that we are going to have so much fun growing our little shop and becoming a part of this wonderful community!

I had to take a few more pics of the shop before the madness ensues tomorrow...

Part of our non-fiction section; books on Paris will be in there somewhere...

The Kids' Nook transitions into the Non-Fiction Nook...

We'll put staff picks here... Speaking of - I understand that The Help is an amazing book and it's getting rave reviews in the bookselling community. It's funny - I used to read bunches of books but ever since we endeavored to open a bookshop, there's no time to read!

We are still "shut"...

Stripped of the Mob Cyclery awnings, the bright, red Nook awnings should be coming this week!

I know - that's a crazy looking pole. We're hoping that once the city starts working on Tennyson that they'll do something with it...

Well, kids, it's bedtime for me; gotta get a good night's sleep so I'm ready for the big day tomorrow!

The store looks fantastic! It may be the end of the beginning, but it's the start of Year 1.
