Huh. I have my very first pair of Nikes that I bought in 1981 with my babysitting money. Mom absolutely refused to pay Nike tax for a pair of for-gosh-sakes-sneakers, and I felt I had to have them, so there you have it.

On the rare occasions when I wear them, I almost always get stopped by a skater or a neo-punk who tell me how cool they are and ask where I got them. I always answer, "1982."

I wonder what they're worth on the open market...?
